I have this mounted above the southfacing doorway to my garage. It lights up my door when I walk up to it, no more, no less. I didn't want to have to install a separate solar panel, so this design was very convenient. It has worked flawlessly since I installed it last season.
Did not work

I ordered this item because it was the only solar powered and motion controlled light that was a single unit that was not ugly and looked like it would withstand the outdoors for more than a few months. I followed the installation instructions to the letter, but it never worked. No light, no motion control, no good. So I returned it.
Great little light

These motion solar dusk to dawn are great little lights! I mounted 2 of them, one centered over each of my garage doors. Its perfect for what I needed - just a dimly lit driveway to find my house key. I didn't rate them 5 stars for 2 reasons. First, the way they attach to the mounting bracket. They lock on one side of the mount and not the other. I had to shim them tight so the wind (and boy do we get winds here) wouldn't blow them off the left side mounting hook. Second, I like them and would buy more but I think they are a little pricey. I also wish they came in colors - like white - instead of the greyish plastic they are moulded in. I know I could probably paint them but it would be a lot of work to cover all the sensors and you would still have the grey color inside the lens.

I initially bought a similar light (black case, instead of gray) from Target, on clearance for $19.99. After bringing the light home and installing it, I liked it so much that I returned the next morning to Target and bought the last one on clearance.
Both lights performed so well that I recently bought two more of the gray lights from Amazon.com, albeit at over twice the cost of the clearance lights I bought from Target.
The lights are good quality, provide excellent lighting *for a solar powered unit*, with a clean, contemporary appearance. They've endured several heavy rain storms: completely unaffected.
I even have one light facing west that performs well. I suspect it isn't getting enough charge to provide the rated 300 activations night after night. But it only gets activated a few times a night, always providing full illumination.

The unit did not generate enough light to illuminate my garage entry area, don't know where to use it on my property.
