Well constructed

Review Date: February 17, 2010
Reviewer: BrianD,
Seems well constructed. Has an aluminum frame as mentioned in the description. My only suggestion to make it truly weather proof would be a slightly better seal on the rear terminal block housing. I may silicon it or do something to better seal it for the environment I will be using it in. I considered sealing around the frame but this would seem redundant. The frame appears to just provide physical as opposed to environment protection for the panel. The panel itself seems to be sealed by virtue of how it is constructed.

It also comes with a nice selection of adapters(Cigarette Lighter, Alligator clamps, bare ended pigtail), and an LED adapter plug to check function. I will be using it to trickle charge a battery in a 16KW Backup Generator at a vacation property. The battery is normally charged by the supplied power but only when in Auto Mode. I turn the unit off typically when not occupying the home and therefore the battery runs down.
Tentative review for Brunton 5-watt solar panel

Review Date: November 22, 2009
Reviewer: Caleb B. Halstead,
My review is only tentative since I have not yet connected the solar panel to my boat battery. However, I purchased this panel based on outstanding results I have seen achieved by a friend using the same type, style and wattage solar panel. I will connect it later this week and will have occasion to check it's efficiency next spring if you want to send me another review at that time.
