Solar Energy

More and more people are turning to solar energy in an effort to cut costs, especially with the current state of the global economy. Installing solar panels will be high, but the expense will quickly be off set by the amount you will be saving on your electric bill. It will cost you about half the price to build your own solar panels. This article has some of the most important aspects that you will need to know about building your own solar panels.

One of the biggest benefits of installing solar panels is that you will be producing your own energy and will no longer need to rely on the public electric grid. You will at the very least be able to save on your electricity bills, and you may even be able to drastically reduce them. You can also earn some cash as in many areas the government will purchase any additional energy you create. Installing a solar panel system will enable you to make big savings, regardless of whether this scheme operates in your area or not. Therefore what are you  thinking? Go green and create your own DIY solar panels and DIY solar water heater at your home.

The container for your solar panel is simply a box with a Plexiglas front, which will allow sunlight to flow in but will ensure that the cells are protected. Glue is used to attach the cells to the box, and you will need to glue some wood strips inside the box. You should only use a dot of caulk in the center of the cell. To avoid damaging your solar cell consider using a single dot of silicone caulk to keep the wood free of encumbrances. After the caulk has set, you will need to drill a hole in the box for the wires. Decide where you want to put your plexiglass and then screw it all together.

It’s not hard to build solar panels yourself, as you could get all the materials you need at local stores or online. If you want your solar panels to give you the maximum efficiency, you have to start out with good quality solar cells. You’ll get more power from superior solar cells of course. On average, 80 solar cells will produce about 100 watts of electricity. Considering this you can now determine how large to make your solar panels and how many of them you need to power your home.

Because solar panel systems are good for the environment and cost-effective they will most certainly be the future of energy production in the home. So by installing them sooner rather than later you can save more money on your electricity bills.
