Today things are tough and you may not want to spend your money on anything that you do not have to. Especially things that you may consider a luxury item like a solar panel, but in reality now is a great time. Solar energy can save you money, provide you with great tax breaks, and even generate income for you. Making a solar panel at home is a great way to save even more money.
Even though there a several different ways to make your home solar powered, about the best way to get the most bang for your buck is by putting in the solar panels yourself. They are now cost efficient and simple to install and you can be making your own power within a few minutes after you get through installing them. If you want to make solar powered energy it is not at all hard, just start making solar panels, put them up, and let the sunshine do it magic.
It has taken a lot of development time to get to the point where solar panels are affordable for the average person. In days gone by you had to have quite a bit of money and be conscious of our environment to decide to power your home with solar energy, but most people today can choose this form of power.
Solar panels do not have to be expensive and not only will they help power up your house they can also help put those dollars back in your pocket. Your solar panels will sit there in the sunshine working away; your home will use the energy it needs while the rest can go back to the power company.. So, in effect, you can actually receive a check back from the power company, instead of a bill!
When you create your own solar power, not only do you save money, but the benefit for the environment is huge. Nearly all of the energy that the United States produces today comes from either coal or fossil fuels.
The making of electricity is a dirty process. You need to realize that by making your own solar power you are getting your power from a clean renewable resource that will not hurt the earth.. Not only will you save some money you will be doing something good for everyone simply by installing solar panels.
There is no doubt that if you spend time making a solar panel in your home, you are doing a very good thing for the environment. You are helping get rid of the waste in our air, but the best part is you are relying on fossil fuels less than you did before.

Solar panel set up, like solar electric panels for homes was once seen as a advanced home enhancement that ended up to become more futuristic than reasonable. The actual cost savings you could potentially generate on your utilities bills most likely wouldn't have been sufficient to justify what usually is a truly pretty high up front set-up cost. However, that is all changing.
Climate change has become such a threat that world leaders as well as Governments are now being forced to sit up, take stock and begin reducing co2 emissions. At the Copenhagen Climate Convention in November last year, quite a few of the developed countries made ambitious co2 lowering pledges. For example the British Government assured to reduce the UK's carbon dioxide emissions by a huge 60 percent by the year 2050.
Nevertheless, the majority of developed countries have a very poor uptake of solar panels such as solar roof panels installations in their homes. One percent of houses having solar panels definitely will not be sufficient to fulfill the big promises made. This is where the Feed-In Tariff comes into play. Numerous countries globally now have Feed-In Tariffs as a way of stimulating solar panel set up in residences. It basically entails utilities companies paying households with solar PV panels for each and every unit of electrical energy produced – even the ones that the household uses itself!
And this quite simply means you will be paid for producing as well as making use of your own electricity. In several countries, this rate is especially high and also exceeds the rate at which electricity companies sell their own power units to households! As a matter of fact, this is why producing solar electricity is actually more costly than making power from fossil fuels.
It is not just the feed-in tariff that is making economic sense for solar panels; there is a substantial financial incentive by means of power bill cuts. These will certainly vary depending of where you reside and also the season. But the sunnier elements of our planet can in fact create their total electricity needs through several months of the year and thus there is no power bills whatsoever to pay!
There is an additional incentive in the mix as well. Solar panel installation adds the value to your property. Even if you're not actually considering selling your house in the not too distant future, adding value to your home is really a beneficial move. So, with these kinds of incentives in your mind, it actually is possible to make money from solar panels, placing them solidly as an investment instead of an expenditure.

The idea of energy efficient house plans is very working and successful although it may sound a little strange at first. It is so realistic that in fact, it is noted as one of the best twenty first century ideas.
If you are thinking about the working face of drawing up energy efficient house plans, the answer is very easy. Take a look around you for newly built buildings. Most of these social systems would have at least one energy Preserving, energy efficient formula in movement. Of course people don t advertise themselves saying they live on houses built with energy efficient house plans unless of course you are on discovery channel s going green campaign. But the point is, without us seeing it, the concept of energy efficient house plans have already come in to play.
So if you are an designer, or an engineer, isn t energy efficient house plans a perfect example to look at? Anyway the popular demand will surely make your house stand out.
The advantages of drawing up energy efficient house plans are multi fold of which, Preserving energy is the first. Preserving up on traditional modes of gaining energy such as electricity, line water and gas are the major pecuniary plusses of the scheme. So that, once energy efficient house plans are built up, recurring water, gas and electricity bills become less.
Some people believe that the traditional way of paying bills is more effective on the long run than accomplishing energy Preserving modules at home. This is a common myth and it has no grounds. If you can t believe it offhand, sit down and get on with some calculations to see the point behind us discounting the notion. {Maybe at the implementation stage energy efficient house plans may cost slightly higher than traditional methods.
So save the planey by Preserving energy at home - settle for energy efficient house plans! After all, energy saved is money gained! Additionally, living in such conditions will enrich your life with new avenues. After all, isn t it luxurious to feel a warm floor beneath your feet?

Solar systems have become an excellent and an increasingly attractive source of renewable energy for private homes. This could be attributed to three basic reasons; namely, the ever rising costs of energy from conventional sources, the falling prices of improved solar panels for homes and incentive programs offered by governments that make green energy a good choice.
In America, more than 10 thousand homes are powered entirely by solar energy systems. In addition to that, 200,000 homes use solar systems for their energy requirements. That leads to significant savings on energy bills. Respectively, the use of conventional resources (fossil fuels, etc.) is decreased, which results in less environmental pollution.
The cost of installation for a mid-sized building can be $18-20 K if carried out by a professional installation company. Such high cost prevents people from using solar systems. However one can save money on installation costs via tax credits and state rebates. Moreover, you can do it yourself, and then the cost would only be approximately one-third before tax credits and rebates.
You do have 2 choices: a stand-alone system that requires battery to operate properly or a grid-intertied system.
A good improvement to your home would be to convert to grid-intertied solar system. Planning ahead is the main prerequisite of successful conversion.
First, estimate the amount of energy you need based on historical consumption. You should select the right size of your solar system. An oversize energy system will generate more power which you could send to the grid, but you can only get credit for it and not cash.
Then, determine whether your home is suitable for a solar energy system. These factors are to be considered:accounted for: available space, house orientation and climatic conditions. A rule of thumb for estimating needed roof space is 80 to 100 sq. ft. per kilowatt. Your house has to face south for the system to be efficient, and there should be no objects that may get in the way of sun rays.
Although you can mount the solar units on poles, solar panel systems are usually mounted on roofs. With the help of stainless steel bolts, the frames are attached to roof rafters. The panels are then installed on the supports.
Solar panels are available in the market. There are vendors that sell their wares on the web, but it is not recommended to purchase the kits from them unless you are an experienced DIY solar panel kit builder.
Typical set of hardware you need for a stand-alone system without a battery that is tied to the grid consists of: solar panels, utility-interactive inverter, kW/hour meter, roof mounts, a couple of heavy duty safety switches, wires and cable trays. A DIY kit for a 1-kW system would cost you a little above the $3,000 mark.
If you are not experienced in this area, you are to select a reputable supplier who is known for quality service. It is just sensible to look for DIY kits with an installation manual with at least enough illustrations. The supplier should preferably have telephone contact, and better yet, could provide an engineer in case you need consultation. Alternatively if you are a lucky guy and have a friend who is experienced in installing home solar systems, then ask him to lend a hand in the procurement of the hardware and in the installation.
Many people have proven that renewable energy can save you money and the environment. With availability of improved, inexpensive solar panels for homes and businesses, solar energy is the best option for the majority of people, so start that home improvement project: install a solar system for your home.

One way of making your Christmas season greener is by using LED Christmas lights instead of conventional Christmas lights. These days most stores that sell Christmas lights include the LED variety on their shelves as well. A greener Christmas really is a possibility!
LED Christmas lights last ten times longer and consume less energy than the traditional lights. They use 75% less energy. This means you can enjoy electrical savings when you use LED lights this holiday season.
LED Christmas lights come in a variety of shapes and sizes, including the traditional globes and "minis" that are popular among traditional string lights. Additionally, icicle and net forms are both available on the market. Regardless of the color you prefer, you should be able to find them in stores.
Compared to conventional Christmas lights, the LED type are safer to use. You can, for example, safely connect several strands without worrying about overheating being an issue. That said, it's still wise to consult the box or manual to see how many strings the manufacturer says you can safely connect.
If you want to be even greener, you can opt to use solar powered LED Christmas lights. These lights harness the sun’s energy. Some models are designed to light up at night. Amazon usually sells a strand of 50 lights for around $17. As such, you'll save both money and energy by purchasing these LED light strands.
Occasionally people are put off by LED Christmas lights' initial cost. Of course, there's no denying that traditional incandescent bulbs cost less than strands of LED lights. That’s the price you sometimes pay for more efficient and greener lighting solutions.
If you can’t spend money on LED Christmas lights and still have working incandescent lights, you can buy Christmas light timers for your existing lights. Timers like these are designed to regulate the amount of energy your lights use. Additionally, these timers can help burglar-proof your house because they turn off and on automatically, thereby giving the impression that someone is at home even if you're out of town visiting friends and family.
Regardless of whether you use incandescent or LED Christmas lights, you should observe safety protocols. By not pulling on the cord when you unplug the lights, for example, you can help prevent damage that might tear the wiring inside. Check for damage before storing any strands. Don’t use lights that have loose connections, broken sockets, or bare wires. Store Christmas Lights, and any electrical decorations, in a dry place where they can’t be damaged by water. Keep them out of children’s reach during storage, to ensure the wires are not damaged.
Christmas is a time in which we can make our planet and our future greener as we also celebrate our family and religion in this season of giving. Lots of little steps can go a long way, so don't forget that every little bit counts.

There is a lot of interest in harnessing solar power for residential use and despite the high initial investment, the long-term savings are being touted as an efficient means of beating the high cost of electric power. As utility prices continue to rise, so does the interest in finding alternative methods of powering homes and, with the efficiency of solar panels improving, the interest in using solar power for residential electric needs is growing, also.
Â
There are four components to a system using solar power for residential use. They are the solar panels, charge controller, storage batteries and a converter. From there, household appliances are plugged in and the home is running on solar power. How much power the home has is determined by a couple of factors, primarily it is all relative to the system’s positioning, as it requires direct sunlight, and the number and size of the solar panel arrays being used.
Â
Components Help Harness Solar Power
Â
Controlling how much of a charge is sent to the batteries is determined by the charge controller. Working similarly to a voltage regulator in a car, it determines when the battery is fully charged and shuts off power going into the battery from the solar panel. Without this component as part of solar power for residential equipment, there is the risk of damaging the batteries as well as other potential safety hazards.
Â
Since few household appliances will operate on direct current, which is what the solar cell is pumping out and the batteries are storing, a converter will be needed to be able to use the electricity you are producing with the solar power for residential system. These have been available for years, allowing people to use their car batteries to operate portable televisions, radios and other appliances. The converters used to provide solar power for residential use are larger and will operate more than one appliance.

Once you've had a home energy audit done, you'll be thinking about renovations and purchases based on energy saving. While nothing beats in-depth insulating, buying new windows, weather stripping and caulking air leaks, or investing in a new furnace, there are many smaller changes you can do today that will conserve electricity. For instance, you can buy Energy Star appliances, energy monitors, direct energy and indirect energy saving devices.
The first step toward energy saving comes with a realistic assessment of your home energy use. Plug-in electricity monitors like "Watt's Up" and "Kill-A-Watt" will show you which appliances or electronics need to be upgraded. You can save hundreds, if not thousands of dollars, by investing in a $30 energy monitor like this. Similarly, a full-house electricity meter like the "PowerCost Monitor" or "The Energy Detective" will reveal the power usage of electric stoves, air conditioners or other appliances whose cords are hard to reach. This can also be an indication of how much "phantom power" your house uses from electronics or appliances that are left plugged in when not being used.
The next step in your quest to save energy is to invest in some direct power conserving devices for the home. Programmable thermostats can save up to 1% of your energy costs for every degree you turn down the heat or turn up the air conditioning for an eight hour period each day, states the Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy agency of the US government. For instance, if you dropped the thermostat from 68 to 61 from 9 am - 5 pm while you're at work, you can cut your heating costs by 7%. Your thermostat will let you automatically time when these temperature changes take place, so you won't even have to think about it. Smart Power Strips are another one of the great ways to save electricity. For $35, you could divide your electricity uses into three sections: the control outlet, one or more hot outlets and one or more switched outlets. For example, you can plug your desktop computer into the control outlet, the cable modem and router into the constant hot outlet and all the other devices (printers, speakers, etc) into an easy on/off switch outlet.
You can also find energy saving as a secondary feature of many household products. For instance, a dimmer switch is intended to offer homeowners more versatile lighting in their homes. Yet, it also can also save the life of your lightbulbs and cost you a little less on your electric bills. Of course, fluorescent lights are better at saving you money, but do not have as much ambiance. Similarly, automatic timers on pool pumps, computers and other appliances are designed to turn devices on or off, but these also save on your power consumption. Timers can also be found on bathroom fans, which may be programmed to run for a set period of time after your shower but not all day long. Motion lights function as wonderful power saving devices by providing you with light only when you need it. Power bars protect your equipment from damage during power spikes, but will also cut off all power to your devices with the flip of a switch.
