Step ladders have evolved to be sturdy enough and small enough for them to be a household mainstay. Almost anyone, for example, engages in tasks that need a step stool and a step ladder. Need to get something from a high cupboard? Then a step stool will do. For tasks at home that involve heights, a folding step ladder is often better. Platform ladders are used when you need to do some extended work from a height, like ceiling painting. There are even ladders that can serve multiple functions.
